Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary that’s what it means. Like all the important innovation on the Internet and in the Real Life, it is simple ! And everyone when they know what it is to say « Too bad… I could have imagine dit also… » or « Crap ! It can be so easy ! ». But it is.

RSS Feed = a file + a program.

The file is a .XML, a sophisitcated HTML (see Blang Blang Blog .xml file here). And the Program reads this file and interprets it. Ok… Why not… Cool bro’ … And ?

So what is there in this file ? In the .XML you have the modification the data contents of your feed (your blog for example : title, description, article) and also meta data (like dates)… The program reads this file, interprets it. So with this programs, the user can manage his way of getting articles. For example it can say, I just want to read the two newest articles of each my favorites blogs.

Ok maybe this isn’t a revolution. But we will see, in few months how a creative public like Internet users can creates new concept with this little change.

You can already check Podcasts (It is the same process described at the top, but with sounds and videos). Itunes made a friendly user access to Podcast. Netvibes also uses .XML, RSS Feed. On this website you can concentrate all your favorite RSS feed. (Meteo, Blog, News etc…).
